TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK
Are you tough enough to wear pink?
Cowboys and Cowgirls will wear pink at the Ponoka Stampede on Sunday, July 2nd to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Wearing pink is meant to increase awareness of breast health issues and raise funds for breast cancer research. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will have a booth at the Ponoka Stampede and donation boxes will be set up around the grounds.
Did you know? Breast cancer is still the most common cancer among Canadian women. Every week, an average of 38 women are diagnosed with the disease in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. An estimated 50 Canadian men will also die from breast cancer this year.
The Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign began in the United States in 2004 and The Ponoka Stampede began the tradition in 2006.
PONOKA STAMPEDE RODEO CHALLENGE
Saturday, July 1st, 2017 10:00 - 12:30pm
The Ponoka Stampede Rodeo Challenge is a 'unique little rodeo' for children between the ages of 5 and 18 who have a mental and/or physical challenge. The Rodeo Challenge is organized by volunteers and along with the support of sponsors and the Ponoka Stampede Association, these special contestants are paired with a cowboy/cowgirl to participate in a fun filled morning of modified rodeo events. Each contestant is a winner and presented with a trophy for their rodeo success (this is a secret best kept until trophy time).
Modified rodeo events include calf roping, flag picking, chuckwagon races, bull/bronc riding, wagon rides and a petting zoo. Following the rodeo is a hot dog lunch for the contestants, their families and volunteers. To finish off their rodeo day, each family receives complimentary tickets to the afternoon performance of the Ponoka Stampede Pro Rodeo.Register Now

ATB OUTLAW ROUNDUP
Thursday, June 29th, 2017 8am- 11am
Ponoka Royal Canadian Legion
Ponoka Stampede tips their hats to the Ponoka ATB Branch. ATB's tradition of supporting Albertans is as strong as ever in Ponoka. The Ponoka ATB branch team loves to support local groups and projects, giving generously of their time and resources. Over the past eight years, the branch has independently raised over $167,500--including $29,500 this year--through its unique, western-themed jail and bail, the ATB Financial Outlaw Round Up. Groups who have benefited from this event include the Ponoka Youth Centre, Ponoka Victims Services, the SplashPark Project, Ponoka Composite High School Broncs Athletics Program, KidSport Ponoka, Ponoka Minor Soccer, Big Brothers & Big Sisters Ponoka and the Ponoka Elementary School Community Playground Project.
The ATB Financial Outlaw RoundUp will be held in conjunction with the Ponoka News' Stampede Breakfast. So when you get the call to bust a bandit out of the hoosegow, dig deep so that, together, we can help as many kids as possible. Wrangle up your rustlers to come down, have some breakfast and join in the excitement and fun while we arrest local outlaws.
